Proudly established in 1948 the WA Football Trainers Association (WAFTA) now services and supports every trainer involved in Australian Rules Football across the state regardless of competition, grade or experience.
From education, advice, general support and guidance to helping with career paths into the highest levels we aim to be there for all members.
The support of the clubs at AFL, WAFL, WAAFL, WACFL and WAWFL levels and the trainers involved across all levels of the football community within WA is integral to the continued growth and strength of this Association.
Accordingly in 2010 the WAFTA Executive developed a formal mission statement which we believe fairly reflects the purpose of the Association,
“Helping Trainers to Help the Game”
We hope to build and grow as a valuable and important part of the football fraternity with the view to realising this mission.
While the actual demographic of the trainer may have changed over the past decade or so from the club stalwarts to a mixture of stalwarts and club supporters now combined with university students, the role itself remains as important as ever and it is vital that we embrace the new trainers no matter where they have come from and that we seek to share our experiences, while also learning from theirs.
By doing so we will remain relevant, we will grow both professionally and personally and will continue to be a part of the game that we all hold so dearly.
